These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the website located at ownitcounseling.com (the "Site"), operated by Natalie Gates Counseling LLC, doing business as Own It Counseling ("Own It Counseling," "we," "us," or "our"). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.
1. The Site is informational, not clinical care
The Site provides general information about Own It Counseling's services and allows visitors to send inquiries and sign up for a newsletter. Nothing on the Site, and no communication sent through the contact form, constitutes therapy, clinical advice, or a therapist-client relationship. A therapist-client relationship is formed only after a formal intake process, informed consent, and mutual agreement to begin services.
The Site is not designed for and should not be used in a crisis, and Own It Counseling does not provide 24-hour crisis services. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, call 911, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or go to your nearest emergency room. The Site and its associated email addresses are not monitored 24/7.
2. Who this Site is for
Natalie Gates is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC.0023429) in the State of Colorado, with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Denver. The practice of professional counseling in Colorado is regulated by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). Questions or complaints regarding this license may be directed to DORA's Mental Health Section, 1560 Broadway, Suite #1350, Denver, CO 80202, (303) 894-2291 or (303) 894-7800.
Due to licensure and telehealth regulations, services are available only to individuals who are physically located within Colorado at the time of each session. Booking or inquiring through the Site does not guarantee that services can be provided if you are located outside Colorado.
The Site and its services are intended for adults. If you are under 18, please use the Site together with a parent or guardian.
3. Scheduling and fees
Appointments are booked through JaneApp, an independent third-party scheduling platform, at a separate domain (ownitcounseling.janeapp.com). Use of JaneApp is subject to JaneApp's own terms of service, separate from these Terms.
Current session formats and fees are listed on the Services page and are subject to change. Own It Counseling does not bill insurance directly; sessions are private pay. A superbill is available on request for potential out-of-network reimbursement, and HSA payments are accepted. Additional fees for out-of-session clinical calls, outside-office work, written reports, or returned payments may apply and are disclosed separately at intake.
Cancellation policy: Please provide at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Appointments canceled with less than 48 hours' notice, or missed appointments, may be charged a $100 cancellation fee, at Natalie's discretion. Exceptions may be made for emergencies, or where the appointment can be rescheduled within the same week and availability allows.
Records: Clinical records are maintained in accordance with professional standards and Colorado law. Clients may request access to their records as permitted by law; reasonable administrative fees may apply.
4. Contact form and newsletter
By submitting the contact form, you consent to be contacted by Own It Counseling using the information you provided, for the purpose of responding to your inquiry. By subscribing to the newsletter, you consent to receive periodic email communications, which you may unsubscribe from at any time. See our Privacy Policy for how this information is handled.
Please don't submit sensitive health information, another person's personal information without their consent, or anything unlawful, abusive, or spam-related through the Site's forms. We reserve the right to disregard submissions that violate this.
Email and other electronic communication with Own It Counseling are intended for scheduling and administrative matters only, and should not be used for urgent or clinical concerns. Responses are typically provided within 1–2 business days. Confidentiality cannot be guaranteed over text, email, or other electronic communication; once you become a client, the most secure way to communicate is by phone call or in person, as explained further in your intake paperwork.
5. Intellectual property
All content on the Site — including text, articles, graphics, logos, and the Own It Counseling name and branding — is owned by Natalie Gates Counseling LLC or used with permission, and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may view and share content from the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes (for example, sharing a blog post link), but may not reproduce, republish, or create derivative works from Site content without prior written permission.
6. Third-party links and services
The Site links to third-party services, including JaneApp (scheduling), Instagram, and, in blog and resources content, external books, articles, or products Natalie has found helpful. We don't control these third parties and aren't responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Any purchases or bookings made through third-party links are governed by that third party's own terms.
7. No warranty; limitation of liability
The Site and its content are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Content on the Site (including blog articles and resource recommendations) is general in nature and is not personalized clinical advice.
To the fullest extent permitted by Colorado law, Own It Counseling and Natalie Gates Counseling LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
8. Changes to the Site and these Terms
We may update the Site or these Terms at any time. Material changes to these Terms will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Site will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Denver County, Colorado.
10. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
